Product Reviews for Event TR8XL Tuned Reference Biamplified Monitors
Feature: Features were fine. I prefer front-mounted vent ports, which these had.
Quality: Seemed well-made. Just sounded bad.
Value: If the sound sucks, they have no value. I haven't tried a whole lot of monitors, but I'd steer clear of these and keep looking if I were you.
Desirability: Good sex appeal. Bad sound.
Sound: I bought this thinking I would have a second "voice" to A/B against my mackie 824's during final mixdowns, just as a sanity check. Oh my god. It was obvious immediately that the Events were dull, robbed of any tonal quality, missing frequencies, etc. They obviously weren't showing me everything in my mixes, unlike the mackies. I also A/B'd them against my old Tannoy Reveal 6" passive monitors. The Tannoys lacked bass compared to the mackies, but other than that, the Tannoys and the Mackies were similar. Both sounded infinitely better, truer, with more detail and life, than these Event monitors. It's pretty sad. They seemed like a good deal for the money, but I think any home stereo would make a better monitoring system, frankly.
Ease of Use: Couldn't have been easier to use. No settings whatsoever. Plug and go.
Support: didn't have to deal with them.
